Health Week 2010
During the week of the 19th of September Heath Week 2010 took place in our school Loreto, Navan. It has been regular event for the past 5 years and has been greatly appreciated and supported during these years. Health week is a great way of learning about ways to be healthy, how to exercise correctly and having fun while in an active environment. Different events and talks took place throughout the week for different year groups which are widely enjoyed.

On Monday there was a dance workshop for all 3rd years.

On Tuesday an organisation called BodyWhys came to the school to talk about eating disorders with all 3rd years. Also on Tuesday, a physio from Johnstown Clinic held talks with the 2nd years. Finally a more physical event was held for 5th years which included a track and trail course and archery class.

On Wednesday 6th years were given a talk on relaxation techniques by Carmel Finnegan and 1st and 3rd years went to a skin care workshop.

On Thursday a healthy living talk was held for all 5th year classes with Bernadette Bohan. 6th years gave talks to all 1st and 2nd years on topics that are important for both year groups.

Health Week 2010 was finished up with Sports Day on Friday which involved all year groups. Each class were competing against each other to win challenges and events. There were challenges such as, sack-race, egg and spoon, long distance running, welly throws, slow bike, race obstacle courses and finally at the end of the day a teacher –v- student rounders match. Sports day was enjoyed by all and was a great way to end a very successful Health Week.
